Q:
“I’ve never received a massage. What do I wear?"
Top
A: You don’t
need to bring anything but yourself! You should undress to your comfort
level. Most people choose to undress to their underwear or nude. You
are fully covered by sheets and a blanket at all times.
Q:
“What style of massage would I need?”
Top
A: You
don’t have to worry about it. Your massage will be tailored to your
individual needs. Your massage therapist will consult with you to
determine the areas to focus on and get a feel for what you’re looking
for before you begin. The trained massage therapist will incorporate
many techniques such as pressure point, deep tissue and lymphatic
drainage massage to relieve pain and relax you!
Q:
“Does waxing hurt?”
Top
A: Waxing
hurts more in some places, less in others and it varies from person to
person. But the benefits to waxing are great - waxed hair takes longer
to grow back so the waxed area stays softer and smoother longer.
Unlike shaving, waxed hair does not itch or develop a stubble feeling
as the hairs are growing back. This is because waxing pulls hair out
at the root, or papilla. Shaving shears hair in the middle at its
thickest point. Waxing removes the entire hair follicle. If kept up
year-round with consistent waxing, many clients have found it weakens
the hair follicles so that many of the unwanted hairs no longer grow
back. Eventually, the waxed hair becomes finer and sparser over time.
Q:
“What products do you sell there?”
Top
A: We sell
the Aveda skin care line (also used in our professional-strength
facial treatments), an assortment of gifts such as jewelry, candles,
candle holders, picture frames and accessories. We also sell bath and
body care products that smell fabulous.
Q:
“Why did you ask for my credit card to hold my appointment?"
Top
A: We have
a 24-hour cancellation policy to avoid being charged for missed
appointments. Don’t worry, we understand that things come up and
sometimes missing an appointment is unavoidable. But we’d like a
chance to book someone else in your spot if you are unable to make it.
Please, just give us a call…we’d be happy to reschedule you! We
require a credit card hold for packages, couples massages and
multiple-service appointments. We will also ask you to do a credit
card hold if you have a previous history of forgetting appointments
with us.
Q:
“Why am I charged tax on some services and not on others?”
Top
A: A
question for Uncle Sam! For some reason, massage treatments are
subject to a sales tax. All other treatments in our spa are not…
Q:
"What
is a Brazilian wax?" Mini Brazilian?"
Top
A: Well,
in blunt terms a Brazilian bikini wax is usually the "full monty" or
everything (every hair) removed. Sometimes women just leave a tiny bit
of hair in the area for a Brazilian too. A Mini-Brazilian is not the
"full monty", but it's more hair removed than a traditional bikini
wax that just does the sides.
Q:
"What’s the difference between gel and acrylic nails?
Top
A: They are different products, gels utilize a UV light to harden the nail, acrylic does not need the light. We can do gel overlays on nails that do not need a “tip” to add length. In other words, if you have nice nails already and want them stronger and harder, gel overlays would be a good enhancement for you. If you want to add length, you would need to do acrylic nails.
Q: "Should I tip? What's normal? Top
A: Leaving gratuities for work well done seems to be the norm, but of course, is optional. Most tips range from 15%-20% of the price of the service.
